Manager 4

Championship Manager 4 is the 4th game of the Championship Manager game series. This version was also developed by Sports Interactive and this game is the last but one of the series before SI and Eidos their publishers decided to separate. CM 4 was released in March 2003 for personal computers and a month later for Mac computers. The game was released in the wake of huge anticipation from the fans of the CM series. The main attraction was the graphical 2D match engine in the CM series game for the first time. The game after its release in the UK became the fastest selling personal computer game in history in the UK.

As expected the number of playable leagues was increased by Sports Interactive. A total of 39 leagues and 88 divisions were included in this version of the game.

Features of CM 4

Although the Championship Manager games are not really based on graphics, for the older users of the game the 2D engine was very interesting. While playing the game you are able to see the game officials running about. It is easy to be tempted to watch the complete match in the 2D engine but it takes a very long time. The default option is far better.
If the users like to hear stadium sounds this is the game for them. As there is no alternative music you can put on a CD or switch on a radio. Another innovation is the Segway Human Transporter which you may change the appearance of the whole game by downloading and making different skins.

Another good feature of CM games is that no two games are exactly alike. This makes the game interesting enough to be played over and over again. The playtime of the CM 4 game is longer than previous versions. This is because of the 2D engine displaying highlights of the game. This also makes it difficult to complete one season in a single night.

Conclusion

Although CM 4 is not really as truly revolutionary compared to the more illustrious predecessors, it still stands out as the best game of this genre. If anyone liked the previous versions, they would certainly like this version. Although you need to remember that the game will probably not live up to the expectation or hype created prior to the release. The game is not a classic but it definitely is a quality successor to the earlier versions.
