Championship Manager 3 is another popular game from the Championship Manager series. The game like its predecessors was developed by the British company Sports Interactive and it was released in 1999. The game was released exclusively for PCs.
New features in the game Championship Management 3
Lots of new features were added to the new generation Championship Manager game. The major ones consisted of visual/graphical improvements, change in game play and other technical changes to the manner in which the game ran and processed information.
The foremost and most noteable feature of Championship Manager 3 was the brand new interface and an improved menu system. The game basically made use of a vertical menu bar on left side of the screen. This was in addition to the conventional horizontal menu bars located at the bottom and top of the screen. Apart from the new menu system, lots of higher resolution background pictures were included. The pictures were shown depending on which screen was being viewed by the player.
Championship Manager 3 had many small changes compared to its predecessors including some improvements in the match-engine, many more cup competitions from all over the world, an in depth tactical system, customizable training schedules, realistic youth and reserve squads and a much improved player scout. Another major addition to the game was the capability to play multiplayer games using a LAN. It allowed up to 16 participants at a single time to compete against each other in a single game. This capability could also be used for playing the game on the internet. This version also expanded the hot seat multiplayer mode allowing 16 competitors to play on one computer.
The database used for the game including staff and players raised it to more than 25,000 for the version. This increased the realism and depth of the game. Because of the massively raised player DB and the huge amount of processing required by the game, a multitasking design was utilized for the game. This design allowed the pc to process the necessary data in the background while the player continued to play or browse the game or searched for players and changed tactics etc.
Available Playable Leagues
Keeping to the trend of the Championship Manager series, the number of actual playable leagues rose again with this installment of CM. In this version, leagues of fifteen nations were selectable and more significantly all fifteen could be run at the same time. Of course the user needed to have a pc powerful enough for this. One notable achievement was the inclusion of playable leagues from outside Europe such as from South America and Asia. These improvements created a game with a level of depth never seen before in any management game. Also for the first time, Football Conference from England was added and the player could manage clubs at this level as well.
